They can listen and be transporter to other worlds or other parts of the world or right around the corner and participate in stories for the sheer love of listening. This Podcast will include books read aloud, how to use those books and others to deepen learning and how to advance literacy in any age and at any grade level.

Edmund meets the White Witch who lures him with special Turkish delight that he will crave more and more of as time goes by. She grills him on where he has come from and learns about his siblings. The Witch insists he return to his own home and then bring his siblings with him and come to the palace. She escorts him back to the lampost where he meets Lucy and they leave Narnia together through the wardrobe.

Lucy's siblings don't believe her when she returns especially because it would appear absolutely no time has passed. They tease her but the next rainy day, Lucy goes into the wardrobe first and then Edmund follows her but doesn't find her. Instead he meets a Queen in a sleigh, which we know has to be the wicked White witch.

Lucy walks out into a wooded area covered in snow and meets Tumnus, a faun, who invites her for tea and she accepts. They have a perfectly lovely visit and then Tumnus confesses to having had the wrong intentions and wants to protect Lucy instead. Such accepts the apology and then Faun shows her the way home.

The four children who are the characters in the Narnia series are actually children taken out of London to avoid the dangers of the Blitz during World War Two and are left in the care of a professor who lives in a big house. In this chapter, the children are settled into their new abode and then go exploring. Lucy, the youngest of the four, stumbles upon a wardrobe which she enters and goes through to find herself some where else entirely.

I dedicate this introductory podcast to tell you a little bit about myself and why I am creating this podcast series. I talk about how I fell in love with reading and how I can still see the books in the Boys and Girls Room in the St. Catharines Public Library from over 65 years ago. I talk about my early experiences in reading aloud and then how I became an advocate for reading aloud. I talk about my years teaching literacy to prospective Elementary School teachers and what I hope this podcast will lead to.
