First of all, everyone gets up and returns to the Fair. Wilbur wakes up and sees the egg sac which Charlotte has weaved during the night. Everyone else sees the word HUMBLE in the Web. They also see the blue ribbon that Uncle has hanging on the side of his stye, But then the loudspeaker announces that Wilbur is to receive a special award and everyone hustles to get to the grandstand for the special event,

We learn that Templeton, in the evening, goes foraging for food and a word for Charlotte. Charlotte weaves the word HUMBLE into her web and then goes into a new corner to work on her masterpiece. Wilbur worries about the competition tomorrow and is thankful he has Charlotte with him. The humans in the story go home, have dessert and go to bed.

In which the two families and their cargo arrive at the fair and everyone gets settled. Fern and Avery get some money and get cautions about what to do and not to do. Charlotte and Wilbur chat in the new stall. Charlotte declares she is getting very tired. Charlotte and Wilbur meet Uncle, another pig who is much bigger than Wilbur and they see that he is going to be a threat. Everyone meets at the truck for lunch and a bit of a nap.

The day before the fair has arrived and it is agreed that Mrs. Zuckerman is going to give Wilbur a buttermilk bath to make his as shiny as possible. The animals talk about the trip and it is agreed that Templeton and Charlotte will each go along to help Wilbur. The morning arrives and although there are some problems getting Wilbur into the crate and on his way, everything sorts itself out and off they go.

Charlotte and everyone else begin to hear the crickets singing which is a sign of fall coming. Talk begins about the country fair and making sure Wilbur is the best pig there. Wilbur wants Charlotte to come with him to the fair but she tells him she can't. She has to stay to lay eggs and get herself ready for the change of seasons too.

Fern tells her mother she is going to the barn to visit with her friends. It's a Saturday and Mrs. Arable is more than a bit annoyed by the things Fern says about animals talking. So Mrs. Arable lets Fern go to Zuckerman's and she visits Dr. Dorian to talk about Fern. Dr. Dorian suggests that it sounds like Fern is perfectly okay!

Charlotte spends the night weaving the word TERRIFIC into her web, which of course attracts a lot of attention. But she is not happy with that word; She sends Templeton back to the dump looking for a new word and for a while they settle on RADIANT.
